THE IMPERIAL MERCHANT SERVICE GUILD,
THE ARCADE,
LORD STREFT,
LIVERPOOL,
12th. August 1913.
Sir:-
109
33896/13.
I beg to acknowledge your letter of the 9th. instant
relative to the case of piracy on board the British
Steamship "Tai On", and to thank you for laying our
representations before the Secretary of State for Foreign
Affairs. In reply there to we are now referred to the
reply of Sir Edward Grey to a Question put y Mr. Peto
in the House of Commons on the 31st. ultimo.
We have to state with regret that this reply has
created feelings of great disappointment throughout the
Merchant Service, deeming it imperative as we do that such
grave matters as piracy on a British ship should receive
the very serious attention of His Majesty's Government.
The Under Secretary of State
for Foreign Affairs.
